Bemerkung |
More and more, musicological researchers analyze not only musical scores, but also recorded audio signals. Sonic Visualiser is a popular free (as in beer and speech) software package for this purpose, which is available on all major platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux). This workshop provides an introduction not only to the software, but also to various sound visualization strategies (waveforms, spectra, spectrograms, mel spectrograms, etc.), as well as the technical and psychoacoustic considerations required to get meaningful results. Bring your own laptop, its power supply, and (if available) your best pair of headphones. Counts towards credit for Modul 5 "Professionalisierung" and can be combined with other workshops from the same series.
