DT //Der Kern dieses Contact-Improvisations-Seminars ist eine auf queere Liebe zentrierte Überlebenspraxis. Wir werden mit verschiedenen Qualitäten/Typen von Berührung, Intention und Wirkung, dem Aufbau technischer Fertigkeiten, dem Fallen und Zusammenfallen, seelenerschütternden Praktiken, Scheitern und heißem, schweißtreibendem Tanzen arbeiten. Wir werden die Contactimprovisation als großzügige und risikoreiche Praxis in verschiedenen Konstellationen wie Solo, Duett, Trio, Kleingruppe und ganze Gruppe ausprobieren. Wir werden Fähigkeiten entwickeln, um mit dem umzugehen, was potenziell tödlich sein kann. Die zentrale Frage unserer Forschung lautet: Was können wir gemeinsam tun, was wir allein nicht tun können? Wir werden uns darin üben, auf die komplexen Realitäten rassifizierter und geschlechtsspezifischer Körper in Beziehung zueinander zu achten. Wir praktizieren und lehren Contaktimprovisation aus forschungsorientierten queeren, feministischen und antirassistischen Perspektiven.
Bio: Makisig Akin (sie/ihr)
Ich bin eine queere, transgender philippinische Choreografin, Tanzkünstlerin, Moderatorin und Aktivistin. Ich bin auf den Philippinen aufgewachsen und lebe derzeit in Berlin, Deutschland. Meine Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Anerkennung von sich überschneidenden Identitäten, die Wiederverbindung mit der Herkunft und die Dezentralisierung westlicher Ideologien im Tanzschaffen. Ich untersuche, wie Überlebensstrategien in eine gemeinschaftliche körperliche Praxis übersetzt werden können, die ich dann als Katalysator für einen kreativen Heilungsprozess verwende. Ich habe Tanzworkshops und Contact Improvisation in vielen verschiedenen Gemeinschaften unterrichtet, darunter HZT, UCLA, Tanzfabrik Schule, Bennington College, The Field Center, Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation und andere. Meine Ausrichtung auf CI ist eng mit meinem Training in traditionellem philippinischem Tanz, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu, Improvisation, Gehmeditation, authentischer Bewegung, Bouldern/Klettern und zeitgenössischem Tanz verbunden. Ich erhielt 2019 einen MFA von der UCLA. Ich habe The Love Makers, eine projektbasierte Tanzkompanie, zusammen mit Anya Cloud gegründet. Ich bin Mitbegründerin und Co-Leiterin des Emerging Change Tanzfestivals in Berlin, Deutschland. In den letzten drei Jahren wurden meine choreografischen Arbeiten u.a. in der Tanzfabrik Bühne, den Uferstudios, DOCK 11, Movement Research at the Judson, What You See Festival, OUTsider Fest, Tanztage Berlin präsentiert. Meine Arbeiten wurden gefördert von NEUSTART KULTUR Fonds Darstellende Künste, Distanzen in 2022/2023, Hauptstadtkulturfonds und Fonds Darstellende Künste Flausen.
Anya Cloud (sie/ihr): Ich bin eine experimentelle zeitgenössische Tanzkünstlerin, die ursprünglich aus Alaska stammt und derzeit zwischen Colorado und Berlin lebt. Als queere weiße Person orientiere ich meine Arbeit daran, radikale Lebendigkeit als künstlerisch-aktivistische Praxis zu kultivieren. Zusammenarbeit, Hinterfragung und tiefe Körperlichkeit sind zentral für meine Arbeit. Makisig Akin und ich leiten gemeinsam die projektbasierte Tanzkompanie The Love Makers Company. Unsere Arbeit wurde kürzlich von DOCK 11, Tanzfabrik Berlin Bühne, Tanztage Berlin, Movement Research at the Judson, OUTsider Fest und What You See Festival produziert. Zu meinen wichtigsten Kollaborateur*innen gehören Makisig Akin, Sara Shelton Mann, Karen Schaffman, Eric Geiger, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Rebecca Salzer und Nhu Nguyen, um nur einige zu nennen. Ich habe Contactimprovisation, Improvisation, zeitgenössischen Tanz und Somatik international auf Festivals und in Institutionen unterrichtet, u.a. beim Guatemala Contact Improvisation Festival, Tanzfabrik Berlin Schule, ImPulsTanz, Tanzquartier, wcciJAM, Ukraine Contact Improvisation Festival, Metamorphosis Improvisation Research Festival, The Field Center, BeingTouch und Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation. Derzeit unterrichte ich an der University of Colorado Boulder, habe einen MFA an der University of California San Diego erworben und bin in der Feldenkrais-Methode® bei Elizabeth Beringer ausgebildet. www.anyacloud.com
EN // The core of this contact improvisation workshop is a queer love centered survival practice. We will work with different qualities/types of touch, intention and impact, technical skill building, falling and falling together, soul shaking practices, failure, and hot sweaty dancing. We will take on contact improvisation as a generous and high-risk practice through different constellations including solo, duet, trio, small group, and whole group. We will build skills for navigating around that which has potential to be fatal. The central question of our research is: What can we do together that we cannot do alone? We will practice taking care as we traverse the complex realities of being racialized and gendered bodies in relationship with one another. We practice and teach contact improvisation from research oriented queer, feminist, and anti-racist perspectives.
Bios: Makisig Akin (they/them):
I am a queer, transgender Filipino born choreographer, dance artist, facilitator, and activist. I was raised in the Philippines and am currently based in Berlin, Germany. My work focuses on the recognition of intersectional identities, reconnecting with ancestry, and decentralizing Western ideologies in dance making. I examine how survival strategies can be translated into a communal physical practice, which I then use as a catalyst to a creative healing process. I have taught dance workshops and Contact Improvisation classes in many different communities including HZT, UCLA, Tanzfabrik Schule, Bennington College, The Field Center, Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation among others. My orientation to CI is deeply interconnected with my training in Filipino Traditional Dance, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu, Improvisation, walking meditation, Authentic Movement, Bouldering/Climbing, and Contemporary Dance. I received an MFA from UCLA in 2019. I co-founded The Love Makers, a project-based dance company, with Anya Cloud. I am the co-creator and co-director of Emerging Change Tanzfestival in Berlin, Germany. In the last three years my choreographic work has been presented in Tanzfabrik Bühne, Uferstudios, DOCK 11, Movement Research at the Judson, What You See Festival, OUTsider Fest, Tanztage Berlin, among others. As a queer white person, I orient my work to cultivate radical aliveness as an artist-activist practice. Collaboration, questioning, and deep physicality are central to all of my work. Makisig Akin and I co-direct the project-based dance company The Love Makers Company. Our work has recently been produced by DOCK 11, Tanzfabrik Berlin Bühne, Tanztage Berlin, Movement Research at the Judson, OUTsider Fest, and What You See Festival.
